How to - find php.ini

In this "how to" I show you how to find your php.ini file

Step 1

Create a new file on your (working) server.

Step 2

Add the following lines to this file
<?php
phpinfo
();

Step 3

Open the file in your browser. You will get all kinds of information about your PHP installation.

Step 4

Look under "Loaded Configuration File", this should be somewhere on top.
Now you know where your php.ini file is located.

If "Loaded Configuration File" is empty, look for "Configuration File (php.ini) Path". You can place a php.ini file in the folder given there.

Other method

Via a terminal type:
locate php.ini
#or
whereis php.ini
